3 chapters to go in the textbook and I'm starting to see what you mean when you said there's a lot of memorization... So far the hardest part is keeping all of the notation straight in my head. And from what I remember, that was the crux of this exam. The concepts are relatively easy to grasp overall but there's just so many ways you can make tricky questions from the material.

Doubt I'll be able to get by with just the textbook and SOA sample questions, so it looks like I'll be buying the 60 day access to the CA manual.

I feel like I'm deteriorating.

Only got an 80% on an EL 4 ADAPT exam. I don't know what the hell happened. Too many careless mistakes. This is the first time I scored below a 90% on EL 4-5 exams.

This just ruined my day.

There's still 59 days to go; plenty of time to practice more. I've been keeping a notebook of all the common mistakes I've made & concepts/formulas I'm struggling with on practice exams, then reviewing this daily. Maybe doing something like this would help?

There's a difference between knowing the hows and whens of a formula and actually understanding it in great detail.

I admit that intuition is important for this exam, but truly understanding the material to the point where you can derive everything on the fly isn't required.

IE. See my thread regarding multiple lives markov chain, where people who passed this exam was spamming fake math.

80% => 4 questions not answered correctly.

20x pushups per missed question.

Please drop and give me 80!

I heard if you're too strong of a candidate, you might not pass...

I just drew a picture of myself on my WA leaflet so they knew that I had "the look" and they passed me without reading any of my answers.

Well I've got the look, but not the artistic ability to accurately illustrate it... guess I'm stuck learning the material.
