Default Guo's solution to Spring 2018 MLC MC Q1-Q20

Here's my solution to the Spring 2018 MC section:

http://deeperunderstandingfastercalc...rg_2018MLC.pdf

I will post my solution to the WA section later.

Overall, SOA threw in new types of problems in the spring 2018 MC section. Q5 is a tedious and prone to error under the exam condition. In Q10, the death benefit for transition from state 1 to state 3 is given but is not needed. This will trip some people. Q17 asks for reserve at a date which is neither a premium due date or benefit payment date. Q18 is clever. Q20 pension problem is not typical.

Surprisingly, there's no single problem on percentile in the MC.

Please email me if you find any typos or errors.

For those who took the spring 2018 MLC, I wish you good luck. For those taking the fall 2018 LTAM, I would like to warn you that you'll have much more to learn under LTAM than MLC. In MLC, pension is probably the only major island, which is drastically different from the rest of the topics. However, in LTAM, you'll have two more islands. One is experience studies (exposure, lapse rate, death rate). The other is loss model. More islands means that you have to hold more stuff in your head.

Anyway, have a good day. Thanks for reading.

Mr. Yufeng, many thanks for your solutions. Did you update your Manual yet for the Fall 2018 LTAM Exam? If not, curious about ETA

No doubt in my mind that this MCQ was just as difficult as Spring 17.

Default Guo's LTAM study manual -- is to be released end of May

SIGUS,

I'm currently updating my manual to include the new content for LTAM. I plan to send book to ABS and Actex at the end of May.

You don't need wait till then to start your study. I encourage you to start reading the two new study notes, one on Loss Model and the other by Mary Hardy about various topics.

Talk to you later.

Yufeng
