I have gotten numerous emails from students asking about the partial manual I am developing for the new material only on STAM (since they saw it discussed in an older thread), so I wanted to respond here for everyone. I am in the process of developing it, with a target release date at the end of July. Once I am closer to finishing I may begin taking pre-orders. It will cost $89 (I might develop instructional videos as well for an additional fee, but that isn't confirmed). It will be available exclusively on the Actuarial Bookstore and Actex/Mad River Books.

The bulk of the new material is P&C specific and I am the instructor of a popular seminar for CAS Exam 5 which covers the same material (in much more detail).

Default STAM seminar a GO

For any interested, I now have sufficient registration to guarantee that I will teach my August STAM seminar as scheduled. Here's what I posted previously:

In case you are interested, my face-to-face STAM exam-prep seminar starts 16 August. I've spent several hundred hours updating my C/4 seminar (and MLC seminar) for STAM (and LTAM, respectively) and am all set to help people get over the hump.

[Over the nearly 25 years of my seminars, seminar pass rates have averaged higher than the world-wide pass rates, and hundreds of people have e-mailed me that the seminar is what made the difference for them.]

For detailed information on the seminar, see http://www.actuarialseminars.com .

Hello,
Would it be possible for CA to share their study schedule for STAM?

Got the pass mark on MLC today...time to fully invest into this October sitting. I am on the Aggregate Loss Models sections in ASM's manual for C. Planning on finishing the material around the middle of September, then purchasing ADAPT for 30 days.

If I started studying at the end of this month (cause I need to wait for the book to arrive if I do purchase it), do you guys think I would still make it for the October sitting?

CA or TIA for this? I'm a big believer in video lessons so was wondering which would be better for this exam. I had Dave for TIA when I took P and he was fantastic, so leaning towards TIA.

To those who are planning to take exam STAM:

since there have been updates to the syllabus apart from the old exam C, I am wondering if anyone here could help me understand whether the 1st edition of ASM STAM manual already has comprehensive coverage for the new syllabus for exam STAM or updates with respect to new materials are expected to be further included in the newer edition?

Since I am used to learning the material from the presentation style of ASM manual, I am planning to purchase the manual and start preparing for STAM!

Thanks very much for any reply in advance!

My partial manual is now available for pre-order on the Actuarial Bookstore and Actex/Mad River Books. It will be released 7/31/18, with additional problems released in August. It should fill the gap if you have taken C before, or otherwise have C study material and are only looking for coverage of the new material, of if you are looking for an intuitive explanation of the new P&C topics from an experienced P&C Actuary to supplement your primary manual.

Good Luck!
