Hey, Shug.

As much as I would enjoy being in the top spot, it looks like your cumulative tally is a bit off. The individual tallies appear to be fine, but for me, 5+18+18=41, rather than 45. Similarly, sam10gle should be 30 and Dyal 29. Let me know if your audit shows any different.

Regardless, yay, I won a round!

(I won't win the current one. Too much awesome competition to hold my own.)

Standings for the Gentle Giant award (songs that I like):

Werewolf: 6 (3)
Meshuga: 6 (3)
OddSox: 5 (2)
TomHaverford: 4 (2)
vividox: 3 (2)
sam10gle: 3 (2)
llcooljabe: 3 (1)
Abstract Actuary: 1 (1)
Jonas Grumby: 1 (1)
DyalDragon: 1 (1)

Standings for the Golden Beardie award (voters who like my songs):
vividox: 8 (2)
Triweasel: 8 (3)
OddSox: 6 (2)
Werewolf: 5 (2)
sam10gle: 3 (2)
Meshuga: 3 (2)
Abstract Actuary: 3 (2)
llcooljabe: 2 (1)
DyalDragon: 2 (2)
Jonas Grumby: 1 (1)
TomHaverford: 0 (0)

In the "jilted lover" category, I have given TomH 4 points to his ZERO , while vividox has given me 8 points whereas I've only reciprocated 3.

Oh, and the *overall* most lop-sided relationship is currently a tie:
OddSox has given Werewolf 7 points; Werewolf has reciprocated ZERO (!).
Dyal has given Abstract Actuary 9 points; Abstract has reciprocated 2.

And the single most points given from one participant to another is definitely TomHaverford's 11 points to Jonas's entries. That's more than 1/3 of his total.

Vividox is the most biased poster, as he has failed to give three participants points (Jonas, sam, cooljabe). Jonas Grumby is the most polarizing participant, with three voters declining to give his songs points so far.

It's interesting that TomH has the lowest score while simultaneously having managed to be one of only three participants to receive points from every submitting participant at least once. (Only non-par Triweasel hasn't given him a point yet.)

I'll go first this time:

1. 65daysofstatic - Radio Protector: There's plenty going on, but not much going on. Knowwutimean? Dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun, dun dun dun dun . . . Plus, the loud parts are REALLY noisy. As I said, I enjoy every song this round to some extent, but this ended up being the ~second to go.

2. Atomic Rooster - Gershatzer: Yay, Hammond! There are some definite shades of Focus's "Hocus Focus". Interestingly, this song precedes Focus's more well-known song by a year, though sadly it doesn't feature yodeling. Two points reduced to 1 point

3. Bearcubbin'! - Solid Gold Monster Truck: Yay, Math Rock! Tied for favorite of the round. Four points reduced to 3 points

4. Ben Prunty - Hacking Malfunction (Battle): Yay, EDM! It's quite good, but doesn't really stand out in this round. (In others it would have been fine.) Two points reduced to 1 point

5. Daniel Avery - Stereo L: Yay, Namlook-esque! The drum sequence makes me think: "Everybody to the limit, The Cheat is to the limit, Everybody come on fhqwhgads!" But much better. Yes, it's very repetitive, but it's *my* kind of repetitive, IYKWIM. Tied for favorite of the round. Four points reduced to 3 points

6. In Flames - Man Made God: Heavy, but not vividox. Too straightforward to be one of his. This is like if Blind Guardian did an instrumental (and they probably do have a few). ~First to go. Not that it's bad. I could just tell that it wouldn't make the cut fairly early on.

7. Intervals - Touch and Go: Yay, vividox! Showoffy? Sure. But it's not just wankery for wankery's sake. Chops plus it actually sounds like it goes somewhere. Two points reduced to 1 point

8. Jaga Jazzist - Animal Chin: Yay, Space Jazz! I actually like their later stuff better (seriously, the title track from their latest would have made this round even more difficult to pare down), but this is quite cool. Three points reduced to 2 points

9. Ozric Tentacles - White Rhino Tea: The in-joke about the Ozrics is this:
Q: Which Ozrics album should I get?
A: It doesn't matter. If you've heard one Ozrics album, you've heard them all.
(There are funnier ways to deliver that joke, of course.)
Granted, that hasn't stopped me from owning most of them anyway. Every one of their albums is quite good, and offers several songs that are perfectly suitable for a BotB. I could have agonized for another 10 years about which song to choose, but went the easy route: This is the very first song I ever heard by them.

For those of you wondering why I didn't save my R3 song (which is instrumental) for this round, it's because I had submitted my R4 song first and didn't want to change it. Mine

10. Worakls - Porto (Original Mix): Yay, Samples! Enjoyable, but the repetition got to be a bit much. I didn't like the "broken record" feel of the repeated samples. It got a bit redundant. It repeated itself a lot. Hearing the same sample over and over again got to me. It was just too repetitive. Ahem. This was the ~third to go.

11. Forest Swords - Ljoss: Yay, More Samples! Good, but just didn't stick with me. ~Fourth to go.

I enjoyed this round far more than I thought I would. I've said this many times before in past rounds, but when I first started participating in BotB's, i would have probably listened to most instrumentals once, and then discarded for zero points. Steadily you all broke me down!

Wanted to give my 2 favorites 4 points each, but cut them both down to 3. Like many of you, after my first point allotment, I had points given to all but 2. sorry to those I had to cut:

3 points:
Radio Protector (65 days0
Porto (Worakls)

2 points:
Ljoss (Forest Swords)
Man Made God (In Flames)

1 point:
Animal Chin (Jaga Jazzist)

Wow, that's almost total non-overlap.
