Smile Adapt IFM and more now available from Coaching Actuaries!

We are excited to announce our brand new online manual, video lessons, and Adapt for Exam IFM.
  • The online manual is written by the Coaching Actuaries team. It has 11 sections -- 6 on derivatives and 5 on corporate finance. It covers everything that you need to know for the IFM exam. It teaches the concepts concisely and then illustrates how to apply them with examples. All 11 sections of the Coaching Actuaries IFM online manual are now available! The online manual provides complete coverage of all the learning objectives, as well as all relevant readings and study notes, as stated in the July 2018 Exam IFM syllabus. It has 140+ examples to illustrate the applications of the concepts.
  • The video lessons are instructed by Mike Carmody, FSA, CFA, MAAA. From 1998 to 2012, Mike taught thousands of actuaries in live and online exam prep seminars. He created study guides and seminars to help actuarial students pass required upper level investment exams. Mike is also the instructor for our VEE courses as well as our Chartered Financial Analyst exams. Mike is a longtime friend of Coach Kester! The videos will be available on a stage-released basis. Section 1 - 10 are now available, and the remaining 1 section will be available soon. Check out the sample videos here.
  • Adapt is now available. You can generate quizzes or full-length exams using Adapt. We will continue to add more questions to the question bank between now and the July exam.

If you are planning to take the new IFM exam in July or November this year, and are looking for a study guide or an online course, feel free to sign up for a free trial of our Learn Pro product here. You will get free access to two sections of the online manual, as well as a section of the teaching videos. You can see for yourself if these products are the right fit for you!

If you are a student, we offer a 50% student discount for our Exam IFM study bundle, which consists of the online manual, video lessons, and Adapt. The study bundle is also available for different subscription lengths. As an example, a 120-day study bundle subscription, after a student discount, is available for $298.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We are here to help prepare for the new IFM exam!

Hi,

Are these video lessons different than the video lessons that were taught by Coach Abraham for MFE?

Correct. The IFM videos are taught entirely by Coach Mike Carmody, FSA, CFA, MAAA. Mike is very experienced in teaching investment-related exams.

We are excited to share a few of our latest IFM video lessons by Mike Carmody on the SOA's Exam IFM study notes on actuarial-specific risk management. For MFE students, even though this topic is not on the March 2018 MFE exams, you may be interested in taking a short break from your studies to check out the videos for fun. The videos should give you a sense of how derivatives are used in an actuarial context!

Here are two videos:
- Introduction
- Guarantees in Variable Annuity Products

If you have any feedback, feel free to share them with us. Enjoy!

We continue to make good progress on our IFM video production and have released videos earlier than expected.

Here is our latest video lesson covering the first Monte Carlo example in the SOA study note:

- Example 1: Playing a Game of Chance

Hopefully you'll like it. Enjoy!

Do you guys have a plan to release review videos like you have in the past? These were always my favorite and what I found most helpful.

Thanks for asking. We do plan to release review/summary videos on the Corporate Finance material this week. All customers who have access to our full teaching videos will have access to these short review/summary videos. We no longer sell these review/summary videos separately.

Tong, can you comment on any plans to change the pricing and discount structure of Adapt Exam C materials within the next 2 months? I plan on ordering shortly after the IFM exam and would like to maximize the time I have with the product according to the price, thanks!
