the first potacular was in 2011 at parx casino in PA. It was during hurricane Irene. Irene was supposed to hit the area hard, but it wound up being not too bad in the end. Somehow even though it was a scary forecast, most of the people who said they were going did which was pretty awesome. It was in complex with a group of hotels, so we hung out at several hotel bars and in the casino in the complex. It rained lots.

I was more relatively unknown on the ao back then and had lots of haters, so everyone assumed I would be a 500 pound old crazy lady.

Here's a bunch of threads about the first one:

http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=221074

http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=223060

http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=223585

http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=222732

http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=223691

an entire thread about my decisions whether or not to come. I was someone people wanted to meet back then, but now the mystery is out and I am just a boring human.

http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=223382

pretty sure there were more threads with writeups of people who were there.

2nd potacular was in Columbus Ohio in 2012. The theme of it was going to a bouncey castle playhouse or something that was meant for children, but we kicked them all out for adults to play until we inevitably got tired after an hour because we are old. It was also during comfest. I wound up missing half of it because my flight was mega delayed.

here's one thread. There are more, but I don't feel like looking them all up:

http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=229884

the 3rd potacular was in Kansas City in 2013 and the focus was BBQ food eating. Half of us stayed at Serena's house and the other half in a hotel.

http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=254867

the 4th potaular was in Pittsburgh in 2014. We were voting on the location and it was basically a tie between Nashville and Pittsburgh. We needed leadership though. nee-2-no-bases stepped up and organized Pittsburgh. It was basically going to bars and drinking.

http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=271989

then potaculars sort of lapsed. We had 3 gametaculars in more recent years. Gametaculars were game focused. I prefer the potacular brand more, but gametaculars were fun too.

In late 2014, there was a gametacular in Atlanta which I didn't attend. In 2015, we had a gametacular in Omaha hosted by snoo and Random Poster at their house. In 2016 there was a gametacular at whiskey's house in Minniapolis. Then we lapsed without a major meetup in 2017 that I know of.

There was also a ski trip in 2012 in Denver that was sort of like a potacular with skiing and we stayed in a huge house. It was like mtv real world meets ao. oh, also Tom Troceen was at that one! There was also one in 2013, but I only went to the 2012 ski trip.

There was also a vegas-tacular. two IIRC, one I made it to(people were doing the half marathon - 2011? and a poster nearly spanked a 350 lb drag queen Hooters girl and nearly got me killed ), one I didn't(think it was in April but don't remember the year - it was mostly if not all dudes IIRC).

Oh wow! Thanks for the background; these sound fun. But I've got honeymooning to do in late September, so I'm probably out.

Also, I'm pretty sure the only way to recruit JFG is to find out his secret identity and kidnap him. He is 110% convinced that we already know too much about his life.

I'm reading the Pittsburgh thread, and it is hysterical. I didn't know Fritz was so prolific.
