And we need to fully decide what to do on the Ohtani situation...

Due to "coding issues", Ohtani is in the Y! system as 2 different players, Ohtani the Hitter and Ohtani the Picther.

Options:

1) Ohtani the Hitter and Ohtani the Pitcher are treated as independent players and drafted separately. They do not need to be owned by the same team.

2) We treat Ohtani the Hitter and Ohtani the Pitcher as 1 player. So whoever drafts Ohtani gets both, but would lose a pick later in the draft (next round? last pick?). Then their roster would be 1 "short" because they would have an Ohtani Hitter and Ohtani Pitcher.

Also, there is no way of knowing what will happen in the future with Ohtani/Y!. Say next year Y! figures out the "coding issues" and have him as 1 player eligible as Util and SP. And say we choose option 1. Then who gets to keep him and at what round does he get kept at? If we choose option 2 that would not be a problem.

Also, 1 more thing I want to bring up.

With MLB going to a 10 day DL, does anyone have any thoughts on adding another DL position (giving us 3 DL spots) to combat the increase in DL designations?

Quote:
NEW YORK (AP) — Use of baseball's shortest disabled list increased by 21 percent this year, the first season of its shortened length.

There were 626 uses of the 10-day DL this season, up from 512 placements on the 15-day DL last season,
according to the commissioner's office.

Use of the 60-day DL was just about the same at 45, up from 43 in 2016.

Not opposed to an extra DL slot, especially considering the short bench we have. Do we just get the Supreme Ruler errr... Commisioner... to approve?

Following the Ease of Administration Doctrine: Go with whatever Yahoo does. If Yahoo gives options, now or in the future, we deal with the decision at that time.

First, all of the dates are in the first post. February 19th trade deadline, Feb 26th post Drafty, start Draft by March 5th but going to open the doors on that earlier. Also shortened the time between picks in a couple of rounds (well after the point where we should be way ahead of schedule). Don't want to push draft start up too much, especially since Yahoo! doesn't always open up their stuff.

Second, thanks greenman for the reposts from the other thread. All good stuff. Appreciate the legwork.

Third, I'm for the third DL spot.

Fourth, Ohtani will be treated like Yahoo! does, two people. You can draft either Ohtani, just make it clear in the draft thread.

So we're going with the other option.

Changed my post to have the real dates so there is no confusion.
