FWIW, there is one situation where you'll have unearned exposures in the policy year aggregation.

Anyone care to figure out when that might be?

It's also interesting to think about treaty/underwriting years. If it's a risks attaching treaty that covers programs and each program writes policies over the course of the year, assuming all policies are 12 months, this treaty could have premium earning over 36 months.
