Knowing how the body works is quite useful. I'd rather have someone trained in wilderness EMT, I suppose, but a doctor or vet would be helpful on a desert island.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. As far as easier to become lawyer than to become an actuary, I would agree, though to get in some law schools is probably tougher than getting your FSA/FCAS.
