Default Guo's solution to Fall 2018 LATM MC

Here's my solution to the MC.

http://deeperunderstandingfastercalc...018_MC_sol.pdf

I plan to post my solution to WA this weekend.

Due to time constraint, I didn't thoroughly check my solutions. Please let me know if you find any errors.

Thanks for reading.

I agree with everything except #15 and #19.

It should be like this ...

This will lead to 18,860 answer choice A.

If you account for mortality after age 62 you should get 7028.51.

For #15, 18,860 is still answer A, correct?

I recalled I got 3 questions wrong, but I could not remember what I did on the rest questions that I mostly worked out and a couple got something close to one of choices. Do you think this exam is more difficult than the Spring 2018 exam on MC only and the whole exam together?

Thanks.

Thanks Bama for your corrections.

Regarding how the 1st LTAM exam compares with previous MLC. The difference between this LTAM and the old MLC is like ACT (practical, no math tricks) vs old SAT (theoretical, full of clever tricks ).

Fall 2018 focuses on testing your ability to derive a solution from the first principle. Memorizing formulas or shortcuts won't get you far in Fall 2018.

SOA didn't test the commonly tested problems in the past (such as Thiele's, continuous Markov, pension mid-year exit). SOA gives you a brand new type of problems (such as mortgage insurance) and asks you to derive a solution from group up.

The problems in Fall 2018 are more straight forward and down to earth.

In terms of difficulty level. Fall 2018 is just as difficult as MLC except the exam style is different.

I think SOA is on the right path.

that's one opinion. others would consider including something like mortgage insurance very tricky.
