The most helpful to pair with a FSA is a personality. I am being 100% serious.

Anyone who cannot cope with mathematics is not fully human. At best he is a tolerable subhuman who has learned to wear shoes, bathe, and not make messes in the house.

I earned my ALMI waiting to see if I passed my last exam... Can't say it taught me much. And I don't even work in life. Gonna finish the FLMI after my next exam.

srs though, I'm super underpaid in consulting, but I've also come out of my shell and learned to have a personality. going to help in the long run.
If I can become one, anyone can, right?

I took the CLU exams about 5 years after FSA, primarily because my company paid some nice bonuses for passing them. I did see some value in them. Maybe the best thing about them is that if you deal with agents at all, they will be familiar with the difficulty and the value of them.

FLMI exams may have some value at the start of your career, but most credentialed actuaries view them as trivial, as many could pass all of them in a single sitting without studying. Life Pro Tip: Don't ever make this observation out loud if any non-actuaries are present.
