Default How many work emails do you get per day?

I spend too much of the day emailing, wondering about you.

Excluding auto replies and emails like "this conference room is now reserved," I got 82 emails on Friday. Some of these were short and like a conversation back and forth, which drives it up. Also I received a response to a data request in around 5 separate emails. But on Thursday I got 39 and I worked a half day so sent fewer emails than usual. On Wednesday I got 54. On Tuesday it was 53. Monday 46, which was another half day.
So it is generally a lot.

30? In all my previous jobs, it would be rare to have gotten more than 10. Although in my last job, I sent out like 30-40 day. That was fun.

I am probably sending close to that some days, but I am trying to cut down and limit the emails I send that aren't responses to requests from somebody else.

I have never received fewer than 10 a day on any kind of regular basis. Maybe my first week or two here, or my first few months out of college.

Interesting. It's been pretty typical for me to get objectives set at the beginning of the project and not be disturbed until I finish the project. Not anymore in consulting. But then again I thought I was bombarded until you said your numbers.

Currently working on a pretty complex project with various teams, external consultants, and contractors. In the region of 50-80 per day now.

It can vary wildly depending on assignment and local culture.

A couple of months ago, I was getting 100 or so each day, but I was working with someone who was also an email kind of person, and we communicated best by trading one or two line messages.

Currently, it's more like 5-10 messages, but my current project is a "go off and build something wonderful over the next 6 weeks" thing, and phone + desktop sharing is the preferred mode of communication.

30-50, to which I respond to about 10. I get CCed/BCCed/forwarded many emails that don't directly pertain to me (large client teams).

Underwriting involved hundreds a day. I don't miss it. 5 is a busy email day for me now. Of course, everyone in my department is also now less than 20 ft away, so that probably contributes.

My team sits in the same office, but HQ is in another state. My management are all pretty email-happy, I'd say right now I'm getting 50-ish per day and that's very slow. I'm sure a fire drill will pop up soon and I'll be back to my usual 150-200 per day, ugh.
