Default Resume Critique

Can anybody please help me? I am trying to break into the Canadian actuarial industry, but so far I've heard nothing.

I've passed quite a few exams, but I still can't get any phone interviews even for internship positions.

I imagine I am making quite a few mistakes on my resume. Please help me fix them.

Many thanks in advance.

IMO, this needs work.
  1. Exams are not prominent and difficult to find. I read the entire resume before I saw that they were under your name.
  2. Work experiences are weak. You have not demonstrated your skills or accomplishments.
  3. Unless acronyms are obvious, don't use them (i.e. what is FRTB?)
  4. Your formatting is bad. It is difficult to read and nothing is emphasized.
  5. There are a lot of holes in your resume's timeline.
  6. If you leave off your GPA, you'll need to have enough experiences to back that up.

I would recommend that you emphasize exams, work on the visual formatting, and add additional work experiences to show a better timeline.

Thanks for your valuable input.

I think I fixed the formatting now and emphasized my exams.

The problem with me is after I graduated from Cambridge, I've been taking graduate classes (on quantitative subjects such as operations management, information theory etc) at various Canadian universities. During that time, I worked as a TA only. This is why I have a huge gap on my timeline.

I would change "actuary exams" to "actuarial exams."
