That was last year. His deal was an expiring contract which why it was somewhat attractive to Atlanta. he may have deferred money, I don't know, but he's not getting paid to not play this year.

His return sported a truly Melo line:
10 pts on 4-14 shooting, 5 turnovers, 0 assists, and a team worst -20 on/off in 24 minutes.

Yes it was the 1st game and knowing rotations isn't expected, but his defense was putrid.
