Rates did rise dramatically in 2008, fell dramatically in 2009, and continue their slow long-term decrease. These 12 months could be the lowest R1 factor on record.

I was playing around with future rates and noticed a very odd phenomenon. If average rates for the next 13 months (basically, the next R1) drops below 3.84%, we could see an inverted situation where the valuation interest rate for the 10-year stays at 3.75%, the 10-20 year rate drops to 3.25% and the 20+ year rate stays at 3.50%.

If the next R1 goes below 3.76%, both the 10 and 10-20 year rates drop to 3.25% and the 20+ year rates stays at a lofty (and inverted) 3.50%.

That ought to cause some problems for the product development guys...
