STATE CHAMPIONS!

They won 6-1. My son went 1-3 with a single and a run scored. Finished his senior year batting .322.

And he gets to celebrate by working a 12-hour shift today at the fireworks store that he got a job at. He'll work there til July 4th and then hang out until he leaves for college in August.

My town is home to 'the nation's longest running free Shakespeare Festival'. (The one in New York has been around longer, but they weren't free for the first several years.) Anyway, as part of the summer schedule they put do a play using local teens - called The Globe Players. My 15-year-old has been wanting to do this for years and this year she is finally old enough!
The play is Romeo and Juliet and rehearsals begin today. We got news about casting a few days ago, and she is going to be Juliet.
She's trying to be cool, but I know she is over the moon about it. This is going to be a very challenging role, but I know she is up to it!
Performances will be in Louisville Kentucky's Central Park the last week of July!

Awesome. i thought you'd say she got a minor part (which in and of itself would be cool). but landing Juliet is a fantastic achievement!

I know, right? She would have been thrilled to be some random servant, just as long as she got to perform with this group. She knows some of the other kids doing this, and they are all really good actors - so this is huge.

She looks a little younger than her age - so I suspect the director is going to play up the idea that Juliet is just a child. I know absolutely nothing about theater, so that's just my guess.

Great job, Frozenette! Is that the park off 3rd or 4th Street in Old Louisville (north of UofL campus, south of Oak St.)?
