Default Recommendation for time series?

I'm a recent math grad and wasn't able to fit a particular course in to get this credit. Looking to get the VEE done asap (it will qualify me for a promotion at my job-- plus I want to get it done before the changes in 2018).

How can I get it done quick and easy? I see ACTEX offers a specific course for the time series component, would you recommend it? And does it really take 180 days to complete..? That's kind of a long time

Hi ahshleymarp,

I am the instructor "behind" the Actex Time Series course so can speak a bit to your question(s).

The 180 days reference is the amount of time you have to complete the On-Demand course. You can finish at your own pace working as you like to work. You could take 180 days but I am with you, that is a LONG time. You could finish in a week---though that would probably be a pretty intense week!

The class is carved up into 6 modules. Some students treat a module as a "week" and others race through multiple in a week. Some start the class, take a break (as real life sometimes happens) and then come back later and finish things.

In the end, how fast it goes is very student-specific. The course is designed to be accessible and resource-filled. The overarching goal is to help you master the topics as efficiently as possible in as interesting a way as can be done to help you push forward towards your designation.

For what it's worth, student feedback on the course has been very positive.

I hope this helps a bit. If I can help further, please let me know.

Best of luck!

Dr. John

The ACTEX course is great. If you can get it in before the new requirement deadline, do it.

I've heard good things about Coaching Actuaries too, but it doesn't look like they offer just a Time Series course. It's been a few months since this thread started... does anyone have any new opinions for the best/fastest way to get the Time Series VEE credit?

I second the Actex option. I took the combo class with Dr. John and definitely recommend it.
