If anything, hiring a consulting firm will improve the accuracy of the product. Has anyone done a cost benefit analysis vs. hiring a team of 5 consultants/FCAS to do all the grading and paying them for it vs. flying an army of volunteers out to Vegas? I believe the grading would be improved with paid employees. There is some truth to the saying "you get what you pay for."
Please delineate the list of qualifications the CAS should require of an applicant to be on this team. Note that some of the current volunteers also create the Exam questions; take that into consideration. (Hint: Peppermint Patty hits on some highly critical issues, but not all of them.)

Also what metric of performance should be utilized to evaluate the effectiveness & efficacy of this team.

Yeah, I typed that while waiting for my dinner companion to emerge from the bathroom, it wasn't meant to be an exhaustive list of the issues.

Also, there's no way the current mob could be replaced with 5 actuaries, unless it was their full-time job and the exams were staggered so only one was offered each month or something. But if it could be, that would create another mess of issues.

We probably would learn a lot more than you know from Bruce and Tom.

You switched to SOA? Why?

Everyone was rooting for LPP.

Hey, the CAS experimented with paid exam proctors this year. That was super-successful. We should clearly hire all the exam staff.

(Yes, a lot of the issues were with software, not with the proctors. But I heard a LOT of complaints about the quality of the proctors.)

Everyone is in a different situation, but here's my view.
In theory, I would consider helping out, but it isn't enticing to fly me out to vegas for a few days, as I do not want to leave my wife on her own with the kids
