So...

I'm updating this old spreadsheet. It has 3 sheets with information only on the first two.

I spent about 15 minutes updating some columns when I get this error message about "your system doesn't have enough resources to do this." So I can click okay on the message but it will keep reappearing. Anyways, somehow I was crafty enough to get to the save button and save the file.

Phew, right?

Anyways, I open up the spreadsheet and now the first 2 sheets are gone (not hidden) and I've saved over the older workbook! I have an empty spreadsheet now that needs to be completely rebuilt. I categorize this under "Excel Magic".

I've resorted to saving overly-complex / flakey workbooks with the date as part of the file name. If it gets totally corrupted, I can go back to yesterday's version.

It was stored on the network, right? Recover previous version?

Happened earlier. Got up and left to take a dump out of disgust.

Do I look like someone who knows how to use Excel?

I overwrote the network version. Fortunately it only took me about 15 minutes to re-do what was previously done. It could have been way worse.

If you have a friend in IT, or even a helpful help desk, you can have the network administrator can go to the last network backup and restore that version of your file.
(Gotta know the exact filename and path for this to work well.)
