Default Android alarm clock recommendations

I've been using a third party alarm clock for years, and I've grown to really appreciate some of its features. But it hasn't been updated since 2011, and the latest version of Android breaks it. Now apps need to request permission to override quiet time, and it doesn't do that.

So I'm looking for a new alarm app, preferably with the following features (or some of them.)

Snooze allows you to interactively change the snooze time. (Oh, I think I can lie here for another 14 minutes...)

You can tell an alarm, "skip the next time. Don't turn off, just skip your next instance." Vacation mode doesn't exactly do what I want, but of course I can just toggle an alarm on and off. Still, I've really liked this feature.

You can set the alarm to vibrate in you don't interact with it quickly enough. That is, there's an adjustable lag (I use one minute) between when the alarm shows on the screen and the sound starts, and when the vibration begins.

There's obviously a lot of interest in this topic, so I thought y'all would want to know that I've decided on Alarm Clock Extreme.

It's not as good Alarm Clock+ was, but it works.

I've gotten around the "can't have variable snooze" by creating some extra alarms, so I can arm one of those if I want to stay in bed for a while. And instead of telling alarms to skip the next instance, I've been turning them off, and remembering to turn them back on. So that's okay.

I really miss the "set vibrate to start a minute after the sound" feature. Vibrate may be discrete in your pocket, but it's freaking loud when my phone is on my bedside table, or on my desk. So I've just given up using vibrate at all.

I did also pick up a sweet alert tone in buying a bunch of alarm clocks to check them out. I had to record the phone and use audacity to re-create an MP3, since I couldn't figure out how to extract the sounds from the APK. But I like the discrete little "ting" sound. I scraped the rest of the alerts while I was at it, but I doubt I'll ever use a yard full of chickens clucking, interrupted by a rooster crowing.

I wonder if Tasker could do this for you.

I missed the original post, but FWIW, I use "Sleep as Android".

Its features are overkill for most, but the bits I'm fond of include:

* Ability to auto-adjust your alarm time based on what's on your calendar (unfortunately only Google Calendar)
* Ability to specify a playlist as an alarm
* Tasker plugin

That's what I ended up buying. Except for the "vibrate a minute later" feature, I've found ways to do all the things I wanted to do. (That did involve doubling some of my alarms, but hey, do it once, then it works.)

Interesting thought. I have Tasker, but I may not be willing to put in the time to figure out how to do that, even if it can be done. I pretty much gave up on taker in favor of Llama, mostly because Llama is so easy to use. But Llama won't do that.

FYI -

In the past couple of weeks, the battery on my original-generation Pixel started to swell, and I was obliged to change phones. I went with a Pixel 3XL.

Llama didn't transfer over to the new phone. When I went looking for it, it appeared to be gone from the app store.

Fortunately, I had mostly converted over to Tasker awhile ago, when an Android update broke Llama's ability to act based on location, so it was only moderately annoying to me.

However, you it might be time to consider migrating to Tasker. (Although...the current beta of Android Q breaks Tasker. Beta-testers have been flooding Google to undo some of the security changes that are the issues, so who knows what will happen when Q moves into production.)

Thanks for the news. And crap. I found Tasker really unintuitive and hard to use.

strange, I prefer the opposite. I set mine to vibrate only for the first minute, then turn on sound if that doesn't wake me.
