Default CPA gives $1 million to UConn's act sci dept,2461893.story

A long-time friendship between two Berkeley students turned into a million-dollar donation for the University of Connecticut Wednesday.

Mark Goldenson, who befriended UConn Professor Jay Vadiveloo when they were young graduate students in California, gave $1 million to UConn's Center for Actuarial Studies during a ceremony Wednesday.

Vadiveloo, who runs the center, said the donation from Goldenson and his wife, Janet, will allow more UConn students to work closely with Hartford-area insurance and financial services firms to research solutions to real-world problems.

The center will be renamed after the Goldensons Janet Goldenson is Vadiveloo's sister who are from Ventura, Calif., and will honor Mark Goldenson's career as a certified public accountant.

It's always good to know people in high places. Maybe this will encourage other CPAs to contribute to other ActSci programs across the nation.

Spoiler - UConn ActSci should use the money to buy a million dollar car.:
