the concept of the group is somewhat vain. But admit it may be a way to meet some people. Curious to hear about an experience at one of these meetings (people cringeworthy full of themselves? mostly quiet types? codename for masked orgy?)

ive gone to a few USCF events. Lot of smart/weird people there. good place to go to compete but not actually talk to anyone.

I am not. I'm comfortable enough with my intelligence and I fear the possibility of crushing defeat proving that my mind is measurably incompetent and I'm just like all the flat earthers who have an inflated view my own ability to think.
Actually me tho. You ppl make me feel dumb.

The events they host sound fun. We'll see. Gotta get in first. And if not, well, there's wisdom in being humbled.

I wonder if it's like a country club membership. Where everyone vouches for everyone else without really knowing each other, figuring that if they're a member of the club they did something right and are worth a voucher.

Took it in high school when I thought I was super smart. Qualified, but haven't even thought about it much in the last <insert large number> years. Do they have meetups or an official list of qualifiers?

I used to be part of mensa. I went to one meeting when I was in high school, and basically what I found out was that everyone that went to these meetings were confident in themselves. Some were cocky, but many were just interested in discussing space exploration, physics, philosophy, etc.

I had SA though, so I didn't get anything out of it so I stopped paying my dues...

"SA"? Is that an SI?

("Standard Initialization")

Gonna guess "Social Anxiety."
