They can't name a replacement. Mostly because there isn't a viable one on the roster. and if they don't name one soon *cough* Dave Bush *cough*, I'm going to be pretty pissed off. You can't use a closer by committee. It's never worked. Ever.

Gagne will be back as the brewers closer, just like Izzy will be back as the Cardinals closer. Hopeful people that think this is a permanent move are not being realistic.

I think Wood will be a terrific closer. Honestly, I do. I know he's just settling in, but, as a brewer fan, I need to continue to assert the fact that, a) he's on the cubs, and b) I have to assume he'll be a failure, otherwise my brewer fan card will be revoked. You will not hear me say much good about the cubs, it's against the rules.

The Cards didn't name a replacement when they yanked Izzy either.

Sure, Gagne was a terrible investment. But so was Mike Cameron, and no one's really complaining about his performance. Hell, the fact that no one on the Brewers is performing close to expectations (okay, except Gagne, Turnbow, and Bush).

The fact of the matter is, we needed a closer. So we got... 3 of them. Cordero didn't want to be a brewer, and if he wanted to, this brewer team is a lot different (fewer arms brought in into the bullpen, a new third baseman most likely, etc. it's like freakin' dominos).

So, the Brewers meltdown, and my personal meltdown, can be blamed on BEAN STRINGFELLOW. I hate that guy.

You might want to look at actual numbers before saying that

Why look at stats that won't support my ridiculous argument?

here is some news about the cubs being for sale. Haven't heard anything on that in a while. Any guesses as to when the cubs will be sold?

I'd be surprised if the sale happened before the WS this year.

Jerry Reinsdorf. He's taking matters into his own hands now...

Wow...getting beat by Shawn Estes really hurts. I feel like Marquis always pitches bad enough to lose. We score 3, he gives up 4. We score 6, he gives up 7. But I guess the 5th starter giving up 4 runs isnt bad. Scoring 3 against Shawn Estes definitely is.

Go figure....we're hitting Peavy better than we hit Estes. Gotta hold onto this one though.

Peavy had some strike outs though, he was hurt by the long ball. The game isn't on tv today (at least not here). Was the wind blowing out or something?
