Canada I heard some journalists on CBC pronounce the t in Toronto

I thought it was silent, can a Canadian explain to me what's going on here?

It is officially 3 syllables. Some people say it so fast it comes out as Tranno.

A Toronto friend of mine was in Albania a few years ago. When he said he was from “Trawna” they assumed he was a local (because Tirana, for the geographically challenged.)

sometimes I ironically pronounce it like "Trawna" and I put on my hick voice when I do it, other times it's "Tor-ahn-oh". who the hell doesn't pronounce the T at the start? which T did you mean?

Maybe they were referring to the town where the University of Maine is located?

Did they say anything about having come all the way from Memphis?
