I agree with that poster, and am not an Alabama hater.

Alabama's OOC opponents were Duke that they beat 42-3, and New Mexico State that they beat 62-10. Not exactly inspiring OOC. Then they, later in the season, play the powerhouses of Southern Miss and Western Carolina.

If you want students to stay in the seats, play more intriguing opponents at home. Duke was at a neutral site, so their only P5 opponent wasn't even a home game.

2018 S&P+ rankings for Alabama 2019 OOC opponents:
51) Duke
92) Southern Miss
123) New Mexico State
NR-FCS) Western Carolina

Maybe play at least one someone in the top 50 of S&P+ when you're ranked #1 in S&P+ & have 4 OOC games.

Helps to also do Home & Homes with teams rather than neutral site games if you want student attendance.

2020 is just as bad: USC (at a neutral site), Georgia State, Kent State, and UT Martin.
2021 is also bad: Miami-FL (at a neutral site), Southern Miss, New Mexico State, and Mercer.
2022: Utah State(21 in 2018 S&P+), ULM, and @Texas. Not great home games but Utah State had a pulse in 2018.
2023: Central Michigan, Texas, and @USF. One good home game against Texas, I bet the students stay the whole time.

Basically it will be garbage home schedules until 2023. It gets better after that but only if everyone keeps their commitments. I don't want to hear Saban moan about students leaving early until 2023.

Utah played Northern Illinois at 11:00 am MT (1:00 ET). There were some complaints but not from Wittingham. In fact, a couple of sportscasters complained that they didn't get to see their grandsons play little league football because they had to be at the Utah game so early.

11am local time games happen all of the time in the central time zone.

From the football program perspective, most teams hate them because they mostly bring dead atmospheres (less/no time to tailgate) and they are not able to get recruits to the game (recruit play Friday night, can't fly them in and get them to the game by 11am).

From the fans perspective, I always hate attending 11am games. Traffic always seems worse (not as spread out as later kicks) and there is less time to enjoy the pregame festivities (aka a few cold ones).

But if I am not attending the game, I do like my team to play in the 11am games as I am done watching them by 230, and still have the rest of the day to get crap done.

Some crucial games this weekend:

https://www.espn.com/college-footbal...otball-playoff

But my eye goes all stinky when I see this:

Quote:
A road loss to Clemson won't keep the Aggies out of the playoff, but two September losses likely will.

Fisher called it a "double whammy."

"It's an important game because it's a conference game and an interdivisional game," he said. "You have to win your own division to have a chance at your goals and aspirations. This is one of the first steps in that process and hopefully we'll play well."
Either he said it wrong, or you heard it wrong, or you incorrected his speech.

I have never attended the world's largest outdoor cocktail party. Scored a ticket so I will attend this year.

Cool

When I get old and retire, the plan is to pic a few different CFB venues to go to a game each year. The World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party is on my list.

Didn't think you were allowed to call it that anymore.

Every few years there are rumblings about Ga - FL canceling the tradition and moving to the typical alternating home games. That rumor is going around again now as the current contract runs through 2021. One of the main reasons the schools might be incented to consider a change is recruiting: neither school is allowed to bring recruits to one of the biggest matches of the season since it's an away venue.
