Default Coaching Actuaries IFM Product Updates

Greetings!

Immediately after the November 2018 IFM exam, we sent out a customer survey asking how many conceptual or qualitative question were given on the exam.

Here is the result:
  • Less than 5: 11.8%
  • At least 5, but less than 10: 72.2%
  • At least 10, but less than 15: 14.1%
  • At least 15: 1.9%

Note that nearly 75% of exam takers had 5 - 10 conceptual/qualitative questions, which means candidates must be prepared to answer these types of questions.

We also asked for any advice that we could share with future candidates for how to best prepare for IFM. Here are a couple of highlights:
  • Know the concepts well. There are many conceptual problems on this exam. Make sure you understand the model assumptions.
  • When doing practice questions, understand the concepts behind the questions and what you did wrong. Don’t just do questions for the sake of doing them.

To help you further prepare for the March 2019 IFM exam, here are some changes/updates we have made to our IFM products:
  • We updated our content based on customer feedback from the November 2018 exam. The updates include refining explanations as well as adding coach’s remarks and new examples to improve clarity. Updates to both the online manual and the video lessons are now fully complete. The online manual and video lessons cover everything you need to know for the March 2019 sitting (and beyond).
  • We have recently updated our platform to provide a better and a more cohesive learning experience for our customers. Our Learn product now includes assignments. As you finish learning a topic by reading the online manual and/or watching the video lessons, you can reinforce the key concepts by working on the assignments. The assignment questions are handpicked by our coaches to cover key concepts. The questions may or may not be questions in Adapt.
  • More video solutions for Adapt problems will be coming.

If you are a student, note that you are eligible for a 60% student discount on our IFM Adapt + Learn package. Our IFM Adapt + Learn package consists of our online manual, video lessons, review videos, and Adapt. You can check out some sample videos here.

If you are not currently a customer but would like to have a copy of our suggested study schedule or a formula sheet, feel free to email me at tteh@coachingactuaries.com. I will send you a complimentary copy.

All the best!
