Default Another Office Bathroom Thread

Finding an available restroom at work is more challenging than finding affordable housing in San Francisco. So naturally, I decided to measure the problem quantitatively.

At my current office, the ratio of employees to restrooms (which Iím defining as a pair of M/F rooms) is 170:1. At my prior office, where toilets seemed abundant, the ratio was about 60:1.

Now Iím curious... Whatís your ratio?

For bathrooms in company space, 70:1. That goes down if you add in bathrooms accessible to the building in general.

I think it's about 60:1 if you count just the pair of M/F. They are rather small, with 2 urinals and 2 stalls in the men's room but rarely a problem with capacity. We also have a single unisex toilet that is available about half the time I want to use it.

But how many stalls/urinals are there in each bathroom? The number of rooms isn't as important as the number of toilets and urinals per person.

In my building, it varies by floor because not all are at capacity, but if they were, it would probably be around 70:1. We have eight floors, plus a basement. The basement has two sets of bathrooms, the rest of the floors have one. The first floor is a cafe and the lobby, so not many employees, and the rest have about 100 seats apiece. No one works in the basement.

I'm lucky. My department is on a floor that is otherwise mostly IT. Mostly men. I hear the men's restroom is always busy, but the women's is pretty much empty.

I'm guessing 10:1 for males. Counting stalls only.

With the invention of smart phones, they do need to change building codes as to the distribution of toilets/urinals. We have 2 male stalls/floor. There are many times when I need to walk multiple floors to find a crapper due to dudes playing on their phone for 30 minutes while taking the Browns to the Super Bowl.

Maybe they should improve their diet if they are getting a bad case of the running backs (particularly Deuce Johnson).
