Default ILS market

Hi,

Does anyone know how is the insurance-linked securities market? Prospective growth, technical challenges, work life style & compensation, ...

Is there opportunities over there for actuaries? What kind of roles can usually actuary have and for what kind of work?

Thanks!

There are opportunities for actuaries in the ILS market, generally they look for people with valuation and reinsurance experience, most likely with XXX or AXXX background. Not much opportunities if you are new to the industry.

You either work for banks or for insurance companies that work on the structured solutions to release capital etc. Once in awhile you also see people work in this industry on the asset side of the business (hedge funds or investment funds that specialize in these types of securities).

Good luck.
