People are saying that SOA isn't accepting CPCU after December 2016. I am looking for that info but cannot find it. I can see that as being a big reason to take this over CPCU540.

In my city Prometric centers fill up fast, so I might have to wait a month before taking it. The Skype proctoring means I can take my final exam early in the morning and not miss work.
Most people say they study about 20-30 hours for CPCU 540 and I think I can pass this in that amount of time. Because of the assignments, you are forced to learn the material in little chucks, so the final exam should be pretty easy after you do the assignments (at least that is how it was for the Stats VEE).
Hey Chomp. It is now several months later. How did it go?

This was the way to go. I got work hours to do this and it took two weeks to get through the assignments and take the final exam. I would say I put 30 hours into the whole process. The assignments really do prepare you for the final exam. I would recommend the additional textbook for extra practice problems and going through the assignments 2-3 times before taking the final. I ended up passing easily.

I second Jerry's post. I took 2 weeks to pass with an A, and I spent about 20 hours studying. I did not buy the book, because I found the online interface annoying with the statistics course. I just read through the summary documents and referenced the videos if I got stuck on a concept.

I am going through these right now. I'm hoping I will pass, and I love that I can do it at my own pace. On the other hand, the material is HORRIBLE. I am doing the first assignment, referencing the videos and the notes, and I'm completely lost on so much of it.

is the textbook included or is it a separate cost? (and if the latter, how much is the text?)

Textbook is separate. Think it was about $50

On this right now. I do like the work at your own pace, but there is quite a bit of material that I have had to google to figure out. The readings they provide are a bit on the sparse side and some of the questions on the Quizzes are not abundantly apparent.

For $600 there should be some practice problems or something. For $600 I would expect at least something close to what TIA provides for similar cost of ASA exams.
