I'm here for 8h15 - 8h30 each day, and eat at my desk. But I do enough surfing that it probably is closer to 7 hours a day.

For a while at this job I was below 4. For years at my last job it was 9 or more. I have had a very varied career from a "mental demand" perspective.

its all about image and attitude. 'working hours' carry some value in that but there is certainly a lot of diminishing returns on them.

In my last job, not a lot. Hated having nothing to do. Hopefully in my new job I will be busy - makes life so much better.

This. My theory is that working a lot of hours doesn’t pay off. There is some guilt involved in putting this theory in practice though...
