Do people tend to focus on one character/deck type to start? I've only been using the Hunter so far...
The arena is my favorite. Though that's possibly because I'm not willing to dump >$100 on wannabe-MTG, which is what's necessary for competitive play.

The answer to your question is no. You play everything to start. Packs have random cards, so you just add them to your decks as you get them. It's fun to watch them grow.

Eventually, you'll want to start crafting cards, and you won't want to waste your crafting power on anything but making one perfect deck.

right now, you have to spend money or have played somewhat regularly since open beta (I'm the second one.) to get into competitive. I do feel they need to lower the barrier somewhat for newer players.

that said, arena's my favorite too. Also vastly prefer limited MTG to constructed.

I just went from a 5 win best to an 11 win best!?!

I lost round 12 twice to the same legendary-- Archmage Antonidas...

ouch. congrats on the 11 wins though. 12 will come.

my one and only shot at 12-0 in an arena, I ran into a streamer called ratsmah who is probably one of the best arena players alive. and I lost. oh well.

they announced the new expansion yesterday... there is a heavy focus on minions that buff the hero powers or have effects that trigger when you use the hero power. looks really cool.

I started playing this again recently. Haven't gotten the newest expansion yet. Anyone think it's worth getting?

No idea but I recently stared playing a bit (1-2 games during each of the past couple nights) and am enjoying that weekly challenge thing(?) (the recent one is where you start off with the 2 mana 2/3 pirates and when you draw you choose 1 of 3 random cards) to help with fulfilling some of the daily challenges.

Not really feeling Arena anymore and would rather just play the single player stuff, but I don't wanna shell real $ for them.

Not worth paying RL money for, but probably worth doing dailies for a month and buying with in-game currency.

Those Tavern Brawls can be pretty fun and you get a free pack of cards for your first win every time they reset the brawl. Usually put you in interesting scenarios and can be a nice breather from constructed play.

I bought the first two expansions with real money, but don't really want to keep buying them every few months (or however often they release them).
