a true dick move would have been BCCing top execs

[note: do not do this]

Why do you think your group manager would be interested?

First, you need to get to the bottom of the discrepancy and explain it. And then (possibly) quantify what impact this may have had on whatever downstream processes use the metric as an input.

Once that is done, inform your Group manager. Not before.

Right now you are simply clogging up his inbox with nonsense.

1. why didn't you go talk to the person, or at least telephone? what made you think email was the right channel?

2. Sending an apology to everybody just makes things worse.

3. Did any of this really happen or are you just trolling?

sigh

PS - if this really happened, did you get your answer, or are you still just spinning your wheels?

Sending an apology is unprofessional.

Learn from this and don't do it again. Like I said before, something like this from an EL is sort of expected as they can come in guns ablazin' and think they know everything.

Next time, take your time and get to the bottom of the issue before informing the higher ups.

I got a pretty quick reply after all.

If memory serves, I heard this guy doesn't even get back to people right away.
Its smart to undress people and make enemies.

60-90 usually...with about 2/3 requiring response. My manager had me copy him on everything for a while (making a case for more resources on our team). That quickly changed, haha
