Default 2019 AO Unemployment Survey

I posted this survey in 2016 and called it "inaugural" and haven't posted one since, so I figured it's time for an update to get a baseline number before heading into this inevitable recession in 2020 that everyone keeps talking about.

2016 post if curious: http://www.actuarialoutpost.com/actu...d.php?t=315976

Respond by selecting the group you belong to:

G1: Currently employed in an actuarial role, >1 year of experience in actuarial

G2: Currently unemployed and seeking actuarial employment, >1 year experience in actuarial

G3: Employed in non-actuarial role but seeking actuarial role, previously employed in actuarial role with >1 year of experience in actuarial

G4: Retired/not-working by choice

G5: Other (students, interns, new hires, career changers with no luck yet, etc)

AO unemployment Rate will be calculated as (G2+G3)/(G1+G2+G3)

Survey will be open for 7 days

AO unemployment rate is (1+3)/(1+3+84) = 4.5%.

Lower than last time, but also lower response rate. Is AO slowly dying?

iuno, how about we turn this into a thread about how to profit from it

what to short? I think shorting the Canadian housing market would be good

Have it open for longer than 7 days next time, there are many non-frequent users. I only look at AO when its either REALLY slow at work or around exam season

You should also add an option for former actuaries who switched to a different role. Based on what Iíve seen, those are not that uncommon.
