You guys are really making me want one of these. I just have no earthly use for it. What are you all planning to use it for?

WTH are you talking about?! Buy one first, figure out what to do with it later. That's my approach anyway...

There is a port of XBMC for Raspberry Pi. It has an HDMI port, outputs 1080p, is the size of a credit card, and very energy efficient (so no fan noise). I plan on using it as a media center front-end. I'll have the Raspberry Pi, with a powered USB hub with a thumbdrive (for buffering content) and a keyboard/mouse. I'll have all the content served from my tower PC off somewhere else.

Also, I got an invite to order from RS Online, but it was freaking expensive. $35 for the machine, $7 for taxes and $8 for shipping. Plus my credit card would charge me foreign transaction fees because it is from the UK. It wouldn't ship for 5 weeks anyway.
does your model have an ethernet port? i thought that the $25 one didn't and the $35 one did.

From the Raspberry Pi FAQ:
http://www.raspberrypi.org/faqs
Quote:
What’s the difference between Model A and Model B?

Model A has 128Mb of RAM Model A has been redesigned to have 256Mb RAM, one USB port and no Ethernet (network connection). Model B has 256Mb RAM, 2 USB port and an Ethernet port.
ETA: I have the Model B, so yes, I have ethernet.

i have no idea what i'll do with it once it's delivered. i don't really need a HTPC. there are lists of ideas on the interwebs, but i haven't put that much thought into it
