On second thoguht, it's possible it's a good value despite a higher price point. Apple usually does interfaces and integration pretty darn well (as long as you are content to remain in their ecosystem). Automation as an end-user product s going to be all about software and support. In many cases, the important part of the software isn't running on the local hardware anyway. The hardware is almost secondary.

That's a much smaller potential market they're aiming that then, right?

Seems that this only works with the Apple Music service. Not surprised it doesn't support Google/Amazon, but kinda surprised (if) it doesn't support Spotify.

I don't think that's how Apple's product strategy types think of things when talking about positioning in young markets. The current size of the Sonos-priced automation segment is probably irrelevant to them.

Got a Google Home for father's day. Pretty slick device. Impressed how well it can hear from the other room, with the water running, etc. Almost instantly, I found myself wanting a Sonos system to integrate with it.

I have Amazon tap, which I'll probably keep for the portability, but to compare I usually have to tell Tap what service to go looking for the thing I want. "Play Lupe Fiasco Radio" will give you nothing. "Play Lupe Fiasco Radio on Pandora" gives you what you want. I don't have to do that with the home, it just finds the appropriate service and starts playing something.

bought the mini on black friday. neat little toy. nice to get answers to questions without picking up the phone/tablet.

i'm trying to figure out how to disable the profanity filter. found instructions online to do it for the assistant but it's not the same on the home app. anyone know how?

You want your device to curse at you? What is the use case for this?

I have two now as a mini came with my phone. Not sure why you would want two. Don't find myself using it that much except to convert measurements into other measurements. How many ounces in 2/3 of a cup etc.

if i ask it what see you next tuesday means, i want the full explanation, uncensored. i can use a laugh every now and then. i'd also like to hear a dirty joke about something other than a gorilla picking it's nose.

i bought two but have not yet set up the second. this one is in the kitchen, other will probably go in the bedroom. at the very least i can use it for music and to set multiple alarms.
