My wife got really into a game of CK2. I think she was playing a Sweedish noble? Hated the war aspect of the game. Just refused to participate in war. Which worked out okay because Sweden had enough armies at its disposal. She just liked playing the Eugenics game. Which she was good at I guess since they kept trying to appoint her king?

Eventually she randomly set out to introduce matrilineal heritage into the kingdom (you know since she's a girl), by marrying a Basque. Ironically though, it ended up being her downfall. The trouble with female nobles is they stop having babies too soon! Doh!

Sadly the Japanese didn't use shields much, so defending archers is mainly a question of better armor, but it's largely a rock paper scissors issue... spears are good against cavalry, cavalry is good against archers, archers are good against anything not moving, and swords are good against spears.

Beyond that you generally want high ground, attack from the rear, get the enemy to come to you so that they're tired, if you attack try to be hitting them hard and fast at once to try and cause a completely morale break, the most successful battles are the ones where you manage to freak the enemy out while only barely having fought and then mowing them down while they try and escape.
Good tips, that sounds fun. Maybe when I need a break from Persona..

I prefer CK2 to EU4, but have spent too many hours in each

Bought Rainbow Six Siege at 40% off yesterday. Super heavy focus on map knowledge in this game, lordie. First multiplayer game I'm getting shot through walls and holes in the roofs. Got some kills though!

SNES Classic officially announced. In an unexpected (kinda crazy?) move, they are including never-before-released Star Fox 2!

I pulled up my original speculative list to see how close I was....

F-Zero
Mortal Kombat II
Street Fighter II (Turbo: Hyper Fighting)
Killer Instinct
Mega Man X
NBA Jam
Pilotwings
Secret of Mana
Legend of the Mystical Ninja
Illusion of Gaia
I got 13 of the games right. The ones that didn't make it from my list aren't really surprises to me, with the exception of Pilotwings.

The ones I missed, which I believe several on here mentioned after my post, are:

Contra III: The Alien Wars
Kirby Super Star
Kirby's Dream Course
Super Castlevania IV
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
Super Punch-Out
Super Metroid

Mario Paint would be a great addition but you need the mouse accessory. Maybe they could just make it take USB mice.
2/3.

Mario Paint was wishful thinking anyway.

No sign of the Wii controller port, but the website says it is compatible with the Classic Controller and Classic Controller pro, just like the NES Classic was.

I wonder how that works...

Nintendo getting out in front of the messaging this time.

They are,

-Producing more than they did of the NES Classic
-Ending production at the end of the year
-Mainly focused on Switch (with a bit of 3DS)

Also bought Portal 2 for 2 bucks last night. Somehow never played the second one, figured it would be hardpressed to not give me 2 bucks worth of enjoyment
