Default Best android TV box?

I'm strongly considering cutting cable and living with Netflix, CraveTV and what I can stream. I have an appleTV, but think I also want an Android box. I hear streaming live sports is easier through Android, which is probably the only thing I'm going to miss about cable.

Anybody have thoughts? Which box do you have, and how do you like it? Things to think about when getting one?

Thanks!!

The Nvidia Shield is widely rated as the best. But at $180-$300 (depending on specs & features) it's much more expensive than vast majority of the alternatives, which typically sell for under $100.

So the real question is, are you asking for the outright best, or just the best under $X?

Get DirecTV Now for like $50 (or $35 if you're an ATT customer)... two screens. Works on Roku and AppleTV, and mobile.

Has a surprising number of sports channels. Otherwise, sports is tricky to stream.

At the lower prices there are so many to choose from and it boils down to what you personally prioritize and what you'll compromise on... CPU power, RAM, storage space, design of the remote, available apps, reputation & reliability, etc.
