Wow, the 880 is sounding great. Do you know if it is backwords compatible so that I could just download my current setup? That's a big issue for me, having spent a good 8-12 hours getting everything just how I want it.

And for the 890 controlling household appliances, can't all of the models already controll them? You just have to teach the remote the signals and set up an activity. It just sounds like a user friendly-ness (scam) feature to me.

I agree with the scam on the 890...no clue about the uploading settings. Sorry I can't help you out there.

I will once again verify though that the 880 rocks better than any remote I've ever seen.

I recently set up a "Sleep TV activity that sets everything up just like my "Watch TV" activity, but it also sends the commands to the TV, receiver and cable box to set them all to sleep timers of 90 minutes.

Also added a custom activity for "Listen to iPod" that just turns everything off and the AV receiver to the correct input for the Y-Cable that I connect my iPod to the stereo with.

This thing just gets better and better.

The Harmony web site maintains all of your settings. It is simple to transfer all of your settings to a new Harmony remote if the old one dies, or if you replace it with a new model. Just log into the web site, do a "connectivity test," and then update the new remote. Of course, if the new remote doesn't have the same buttons or display as the old one, you may need to do some tweaking afterwards.

Well I guess it's fate.

I was looking at these yesterday on-line and thought sweet, yes. Should I spend the $'s right now, no.

I'll take this thread moving to the top as a sign from allah that I made the wrong choice and will being going out and getting the 880 today at lunch.

http://www.hot-deals.org/deal/a2a70e...a004e5d64c3fa/

your welcome....
PS - the 890 doesn't have as good of reviews as the 880, costs twice as much, but does add RF ability via an RF to IR receiver....but many people have had issues with it

if you have questions about setting it up, I can always provide some guidance, but it's really simple
