Default Domestic CEO

Like personal information, do not feel obligated to explain gaps in your resume. “Personal information about age, relationships or children can expose you to discrimination,” warns Cox. “Employers aren’t allowed to ask for that kind of information, and you shouldn’t offer.” However, if you’d like to address a gap because you are re-entering the workforce, Cox says, “You can be creative, such as putting Domestic CEO as the title and listing ‘Successfully managed procurement, budgets and scheduling.'”

HR advice on the web baffles me. Domestic CEO would make me far more likely to throw out someone's resume than stay at home mom. Thoughts?

Domestic CEO might make sense for the head wife of a large harem.

Depends on the job, I guess. I appreciate creativity in an employee. Yet it's very tough to communicate that during the interview, and certainly on the resume. I consider myself a creative person and have had some pretty bad experiences trying to express that in an actuarial interview or even early in the job. I could see jobs where the creativity is more fundamental to the job that an actuarial position. (Yes, keen insight from the coach.)

Also, I want productive creativity, not creativity that tries to make your experience sound like something it isn't. Now, if you think an example from your parenting is the most relevant to an interview question I pose, by all means, share it. But in the resume, for the most part, give it to me straight.

It would probably make me :ctm: for a split second, then I would move along as if it had said SAHM.
