If you believe your happiness is largely determined by your specific job you are doing it wrong. The thing you are looking for may be orthogonal to the direction in which you are searching. After all, "Most people are as happy as they make up their minds to be."
That said, crappy jobs can create or exacerbate unhappiness. But I would suggest addressing your happiness issue first, and letting that help your job search. It will make you a better interviewer, and lead you to better fits.
