Default Module 6 Questions

I feel like many people including myself would have questions throughout the course. So i started a thread for questions on Module 6. Here's the first:

In module 6, sample project analysis, slide 149 - Regularization, second paragraph. I don't understand why "the only model available that makes sense is normal with an identity link". Is this determined by running previous models?
I thought Regularization was a completely different approach, if i hadn't run the previous models, would i have to create different regularization models using different distributions?

Thanks

I added this to the other mega thread, but it should be here, as well:

"At the end of Module 6 for the exercise, slide 146, why can't we remove MARSTAT? I don't understand the point they make there as to why we have to keep it."
