Default Seahawks Are For Real This Time

I think this may finally be the Seahawks' year. I'm not a specialist on the NFL but have followed the league casually for over 50 years from the Canadian side of the border. This team looks special to me.

They got lucky yesterday. If Schaub doesn't throw that pick-6 with 2:30 to go, I'm not sure the Seawawks win.

Schaub doesn't throw the interception if he's not being pressured. But he was. Thru week 4, there are only two teams at the top of the heap - Seahawks and Broncos. The next 13 weeks and injuries could certainly change that picture, but right now these are the only elite-looking teams.

I find it funny that today is the day to declare that the Seahawks are for real this time. I wasn't very impressed with the Seahawks yesterday.

They have beaten Carolina, SF, Jacksonville, and Houston. The Carolina and Houston victories were due to terrible mistakes by the opponent late in the game. Jacksonville is putrid. The SF game was impressive.

I would not put Seattle in the same category as Denver. Denver has won their games by 22, 18, 16, and 32 points. I would put Seattle at the top of the next tier of teams after Denver, but the dropoff to #3 is not significant.

My Hawks were for real last year, too.

The NFL season is effing long, and crazy shit can happen in the playoffs. The Hawks are great this season, and will make the playoffs and host at least one home game. Anything more than that requires a lot of things to go your way.

The one thing Seattle needs to go there way is health. Three starters on the offensive line were out yesterday. I think only Okung is serious, but they really need to keep the big guys healthy. The defense cannot do it on their own.

New England looked impressive on the road last night, Indy is starting to show signs of a defense, and I expect SF to play better. I agree that Seattle looks promising but Wilson doesn't impress me.

Patriots, Dolphins, Chiefs, and Saints are also undefeated. Dolphins and Saints play tonight so there will be 5 teams at the top of the heap at 4-0.

You must have been watching a different game than what I was watching. What Seattle did despite their injuries on the offense line (three starters inactive( was very impressive in my opinion.

I am always surprised when people have thus reaction to games

Seattle's margins of victory:
@Carolina 5
San Francisco 26
Jacksonville 28
@Houston 3

Heading into the game at Houston, Seattle had a larger average margin of victory against significantly better opponents.

And this is including the fact that Seattle sat down it's starters (on offense and defense) with 5 minutes remaining in the third quarter against Jacksonville. In the NFL.

Also, the Broncos have played an easier schedule to date (imo):

Balt 2-2
@NYG 0-4
OAK 1-4
PHI 1-3

Broncos are going to look great this year in part because of their divisional draw. they are getting one of the two crappiest divisions (NFC East). At least they play the AFC South (like Seattle) so we will get some like opponents for comparison.

Denver does look better than Seattle, but not head and shoulders above them. But it will be interesting to see how they look once they actually play a decent team.
