Implementation and reporting under IFRS 17 presents significant challenges and complexity for many insurers. Beyond the deep actuarial involvement required throughout, data management tools, actuarial models and IT infrastructure will require significant enhancements to facilitate alternative assumptions, increasing numbers of model runs requiring faster processing, more detailed and granular output, tracking of locked-in yield curves and other comprehensive incomes, and storage of cash flows and attributions. Tracking, releasing and unlocking of CSM will involve both finance and actuarial elements. The level of coordination required between actuaries and other professionals in the insurance organization (finance, investments, technology, etc.) during the IFRS 17 implementation is likely to increase and evolve.

This ACTEX eLearning webinar discusses a high-level solution and implementation approach for IFRS 17 reporting. The discussion includes key considerations, decisions and typical challenges expected on the implementation journey, as well as some perspectives from early implementation activities in the industry.

Learning Objectives:
  • Gain an understanding of the IFRS 17 technical requirements
  • Recognize how accounting changes impact the profit model and revenue recognition pattern for insurance companies
  • Articulate the challenges faced in the implementation of IFRS 17 as introduced by the reporting requirements
  • Become more familiar with the basic technology and process impacts of the new standard
  • Identify where key considerations and strategic decisions in policy-setting during implementation can be made
Who Should Attend This Webinar:

This webinar is for any actuary or insurance professional who wants to better understand the requirements of IFRS 17 and challenges faced on the implementation journey.
