Q: [Missed the question]

A: Our goal is to educate actuaries in data science and get better education. Actuaries have skills to do data science. Can argue P&C area we have been doing basic PA for 30+ years. We need to train our members with new tools like AI. We think we can do that better as a combined organization. I think it's important to do it as part of continuing education. We think we can increase the rep of actuaries.

SOA PRez: we identified PA as an important area. YOu need to take an exam. Have PA certificate program for FSAs.

CAS Prez: iCAS has a designation for P&C. WIth combination want to expand into other areas.

Q: Can you talk about the AAA and how it will work?

A: SOA PRez: To date they have been supportive. We don't think this is a change - we will continue to educate. Expect members to continue to follow the code of conduct. Expect no change from that front - no concerns from them.

CAS PRez: Told AAA leaders what we were planning. THey were supportive - will work with them in the future.

Board would have 2 representatives from each of the 5 practice area, + past president, current president, president-elect. Would expect the presidency to rotate through each of the practice areas over time.

Might even have a couple non-actuaries on the board.

Would have casualty representation on the board "that is fair." More references to how Milliman works.

Q: What will the governing board of the combined org look like?

A:
SOA PRez: Will start with two boards. In three years is the end point. The current CAS & SOA board will start off on that board. THen the board will shring and members will be moved off. Will have 5 practice areas 2 members on board from each area. Rotating prez - b/w practice areas. May have non-actuaries on board.

CAS PRez: Will have a lot of rules. Want to make sure that each of the disciplines have fair representation. Want casualty rep. on the governing board that is fair. Going to be very similar to Milliman's board. Milliman's way works really well. Want the same thing for CAS & SOA members.

SOA PRez: We have 5 practice areas with distinct practice boards. The casualty practice board will look at casualty specific. Can be done in collab. with other boards. If cross professional - governing board will get invovled.

CAS PRez: Practice boards will have fair amount of autnomy. Very similar to Milliman.

SOA PRez: Very similar to a federation.

Q: How is someone assigned a practice community?

A: SOA PRez: A member will be assigned a practice community at start. CAS side will be allocated to casualty practice. Will have chance to change designation. Gave example of a life person changing. The sole purpose of being in a practice area is being able to vote on area board members. Depending on my skills I can do whatever I do. Only limitation on voting.

CAS PRez: Practice areas don't mean you can work in the area.
