Default What's up with South Koreans and fans?

According to Yeon Dong-su, dean of Kwandong University's medical school, "If it is completely sealed, then in the current of an electric fan, the temperature can drop low enough to cause a person to die of hypothermia."[340] However, leaving a fan running in an unoccupied room will not cool it down; rather, due to energy losses from the motor and viscous dissipation, a fan will actually slightly heat a room.
wth?

yeah, some people told me about this after I mentioned Stu (and my dad and D and...) slept with box fans on in the room, because the white noise was calming for them.

It won't cool off a room, but it will cool off a heat radiating body. That's why wind chill is a thing.

Also don't hold onto a large magnet while someone else uses a fan nearby

Clearly not. The lack of enclosure is why!
