Except a huge criticism of a game is that it's too short.

Would rather a game be too long than too short. Never been a completionist though.

I'm only a completionist if I REALLY enjoy the game and am still having fun while grinding for the trophies. Skyrim is a great example of pushing that to its limits. Those Thief Guild quests got really damn old by the time I earned the last trophy there. I

I don't like it when a game doesn't balance the side missions with the main story. What I mean is, if I don't do just the right amount of side missions, I'll be either way over powered or way under powered for the story, and they don't put in safe guards in place to keep you at the right amount.

Looking at the list of games I've got my eye on over the coming horizon though, nothing looks too meaty. Hopefully I can circle back around to P5 soon.
I'm 33 hours into Horizon: Zero Dawn and I've been playing it for almost 3 months. Persona looks cool, but I know I'll never really get to play it.

In the 90's you could play megaman and try to find all the secrets yourself because the game wasn't absurdly large. Now days, you have to visit some open source guide or faq to be able to find some secrets because the game is so large and epic that it is extremely unlikely you would find it on your own.

My personal opinion is that games which run about 20 hours are a great length. Maybe 30-40 for a high end AAA RPG. Much over that gets pretty daunting, and at some point I go ahead and start skipping side quests and secrets to just go ahead and finish the game.
IMO, Rise of the Tomb Raider was a touch too long, and I gave up looking for collectibles just to finish. That's basically what I have to do to finish games these days.

Much, much harder. Still plenty of young ones though that will play CoD or something for 100s of hours.

I'm loving HZD, so I'm gonna platinum. None of these have been too bad, but some just take extra time.

I hate the under powered part, don't really mind being OP these days (helps move things along).

I have now gotten through 3 of the 6 endings to 999. Gonna need to switch to something else before going on to ZE2.

Too long = Too full of garbage.

Skyrim was an excellent example of too full of garbage IMO. Same with a lot of Civ games that never end. Or wandering around Orzammar. Or Fall Out 3, from what I hear.

Basically it's the same thing as a book. If your game has some good stuff, and some bad stuff, then it is too long. Better to just have the good stuff.
