Still totally worth it. We do about 80% of our shopping and love free 2 day shipping and have gotten some good usage out of $3.99 next day.

I don't know how different the offerings on Hulu Plus are compared to Netflix (my understanding is Prime comes with HP), but Netflix is $95.88 a year.

It comes with a VOD service, but it's not Hulu Plus. I've never had Netfilx, but Amazon's selection seems adequate. The free shipping included with Prime makes it worth it, imo. The $99 is lower than the $120 rumor I had been hearing.

Netflix's selection is way better than Amazon Prime's. The correct answer is to have Netflix and find someone to share Prime with if you want the 2day shipping or Downton Abbey, since they let you do that.

+1 I have had both for years, never found anything on Amazon Prime worth watching (YMMV)

We'll probably still keep it. The convenience of thinking "hey, we're almost out of the specific garbage bags that fit our specific garbage can"* and then being able to click a couple buttons and have those garbage bags just magically show up a couple days later is worth something. And we do use the VOD service, mostly for kids shows.

*overly-specific example, prolly, but whatevs

I've heard that you can lock in the current price if you "gift" yourself a subscription to Prime now and select a "delivery date" that is the same as the end of your current subscription. Just make sure you turn off automatic renewal. I haven't tried it though so I can't confirm.

It seems new prime memberships will increase on March 17, and existing renewals will start getting the increase next month.

those who lock-in the 30 day free trial now will still be able to get it for 79
