I've noticed that Amazon is no longer *always* the cheapest on the items I buy. In one or two instances recently, I've actually paid less, including sales tax, for an item from a brick-and-morter store.

I won't be renewing mine - I'm not sure I ordered enough stuff to make the free 2-day shipping worthwhile at $79 per year. And the movie / show selection is pretty terrible.

My wife and I actually use the VOD quite a bit on Prime, mostly for shows we were either too young for when they were on (West Wing) or shows we just missed the first time around (BSG, How I Met Your Mother). They've had some newer movies on there that we never saw either.

We also abuse the crap out of the two day shipping, mostly in baby diapers and wipes. We'll be renewing.

I would pay way more than $99 to not have to deal with people at Wal Mart and other retail stores. No lines, no need to remember what to buy, better research options, no worries about finding it or it being out of stock.

My wife and I saved something like $425 in shipping costs. No brainer.

I've got to be in that ballpark. We've got three kids so we order hats, socks, sunglasses, diapers, toys, and pretty much everything else for them from there.

Anytime we have to go to Target or ToysRUs to buy a birthday gift last minute, I about lose my mind.

I have used Amazon Prime since the fall of 2005, and have used it heavily.
I don't use the videos, but I buy books frequently. I am very much pleased with Amazon and its Prime service. I will continue this for a long time.

Compared to what? You still get free shipping without Prime - it just takes longer to arrive.

You don't need to pay for Prime to use Amazon
