Trying to avoid spoilers with less than 48 hours to go.

In general, I've heard a few reactions to the movie that don't spoil any of the plot points -

Spoiler:
Consensus, it's the worst Star Wars movie yet

Maybe knowing this will help ease expectations.

Not gonna post any spoilers, but I will say that I really liked it. I was worried I would be disappointed, and it's possible I'll like it less after I sleep on it, but my initial impressions were very positive.

First impressions:
Spoiler:
I liked watching the film well enough but really wish it weren’t canon. Which also sums up how I feel about the trilogy overall.

I loved it.

Was it original? No.
Will nerds nitckpick it to death? Absolutely.
Will man-children proclaim it destroyed their childhood? Guaranteed.

Was it cool? Yes.
Was it cringey? No more than the average Star Wars movie. Much less so than TLJ.
Did it give me everything I wanted? Yes.
Did it give me everything I didn't know I wanted? No.

Honestly, it fulfilled a lot of the expectations and theories Star Wars fans had on message boards post TFA.

I will admit, during a certain scene, the cringe and "oh-nos" in the theater was palpable and audible. For whatever reason, I am good with that scene.

I honestly don't get why the critics like TFA but not TLS. Their flaws seem pretty darn similar to me.

I enjoyed it. My kid enjoyed it. My wife was meh.

Critics are weird. Stars Wars is not great cinema. And some of the specific complaints I read in reviews I really didn't perceive in the movie, despite looking for them. I don't get it.

Agreed. Honestly, I think the critics did us (or at least me personally) a favor. My expectations were so low after devouring reviews and reactions that I was expecting an absolutely awful movie. Having already been deflated, allowed me to chill and take it in for what it was. And it ended up being great.

I had pretty low expectations going in. Which enabled me to be pleasantly surprised. It wasn't that bad. It had a few stupid moments but nothing like TLJ.
