He was actually very aware of the potential global issue before his accident as he was managing the operations department of a large tour company and they were already dealing with massive numbers of tour cancellations by mid-January. They arrange tours in over 100 countries and the Chinese ones were in full cancellation mode by then. So although the virus impact was not yet being felt in North America by then, he could see firsthand what was happening elsewhere. He also may not be surprised to find out that half his co-workers have been let go and that his employer may not survive the crisis. That will still be tough for him to hear though.

MIL was going to have cancer surgery but her hospital has high COVID rates so they are discussing other options such months of chemo and radiation.

Needless to say it was overwhelmingly emotional for us.
Thanks for sharing the good news!

Not driving to work, but working from home has been wonderful.
Not playing bridge face to face, but playing plenty of it online.
Not going to church, but composing videos on youtube for my sunday school and tomorrow morning some of us will videoconference.

While I do miss the face-to-face interaction, the things I do haven't changed, so much as how they are done. I still haven't used a single vacation day all year, so when we are finally encouraged to go out and about, it will feel strange to have worked so much, and then take off so much.
